Spelling Bee Winners

Sixteen spellers in grades 5-8 competed in the McColl School Spelling Bee on December 8th.  Fifth grade spellers were Luke Chavis, Allyssa Ashworth, Maddison Perdue, and KeAsia Owens.  Competing in sixth grade were Shaniyah Sullivan, Makayla Zimmerman, Kaylee Alford, and Nevaeh Arp.  Seventh grade spellers were Tiara Gibson, Caleb Bullard, Journdyn Simmons, and Emma Leviner.  Eighth grade participants were Brandon Terry, Aaron Shuler, Gracie Shuler, and Tristen Miles.

After twenty-six rounds Luke Chavis, was named Top Speller at McColl School and Top Fifth Grade Speller.  This is the second year in a row that a fifth grader has earned this title.  Nevaeh Arp was runner-up and Top Sixth Grade Speller.  Emma Leviner was named Top Seventh Grade Speller, and Brandon Terry was the Top Eighth Grade Speller.  All of these students overcame the jitters and represented their respective grade levels proudly.  We take spelling pretty seriously in our school, so we cannot wait to find out which of these young people will win the District Spelling Bee.  Bring Home the regional trophy, Luke!  We are counting on you!
